1Spring has arrived! Along with every other seasonal change, there are a few areas of your vehicle you should check so that you can safely hit the road to anywhere you want to go. Certain parts of your car should be inspected as the warm weather arrives to make sure that everything is in tiptop shape as the year goes on.

Some of the most common problem areas are:

Tire Pressure – temperature has a big affect on air pressure, so it is always a good idea to check tire pressures with seasonal changes. The correct tire pressures for your vehicle are usually found on the inside of the driver’s side door jam.

Suspension and Alignment – Potholes due to freezing winter temps can throw off the alignment of your wheels and suspension. Now that most roadways have been repaired, it is a good idea to get everything lined up properly once again.

Radiator and Coolant – Check your antifreeze levels and radiator hoses before it gets too hot. You want to make sure this system is working optimally while it’s still slightly cool outside.

Spring Cleaning – Winter weather can mean a messy car inside and out. Wash off the exterior of your vehicle, including the undercarriage, to get rid of salt and grime that may have built up from driving in snowy conditions, even though it’s not a common occurrence in the South. Ignoring this could lead to body and frame rust, or corroded brake lines. Cold weather can also discourage us from keeping the interior clean with daily use, so now is as good a time as ever to give your daily drive a good vacuum.

Windshield Wipers – Cold weather and ice can be rough on windshield wipers, causing them to dry rot and crack. Spring is a great time to replace them and check your wiper fluid level so that you are ready for sudden rainstorms and all the North Carolina pollen!

Fix Any Issues – If you are experiencing any minor issues, get them looked at before the weather really heats up and make problems worse. Summer temperatures can compound minor problems.
